Control
Configuration control is mandatory before starting into any test program, one process must be emphasized.
There must exist a method of airplane configuration control.
When the applicant receives a Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) from the agency, strict adherence to assure that each test that is performed with the airplane configured as described in detail in the TIA. This means that
no unapproved and undocumented changes to the airplane will be allowed.
The applicant should establish
the configuration early and not change it if possible. If changes
are made, the applicant may have to totally re-do all testing
that has already been performed. The amount of re-test is
negotiable with the agency, however. This does depend on the
extent of the change and what tests are likely to be affected.

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that the applicant develop a configuration control procedure of change documentation and follow the procedure rigorously.
